About

Emily Donovan_news croppedI report features, bar associations, and pro bono work for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine.

When I investigate, I answer one question: Why should readers care? I use good storytelling to humanize news, specializing in policy investigation and long-form features.

I graduated from the University of Kansas with distinction, a bachelor’s degree in English creative writing, and a minor in sociology. Before joining the Law Bulletin, I reported local news and crime as a summer intern at The Desert Sun, a Gannett-owned newspaper in Palm Springs, California, and The Gazette, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper in Colorado Springs. I explored radio reporting as an Arts and Culture producer for KJHK 90.7 FM. I’ve also reported for USA TODAY College, a national college news blog, and The University Daily Kansan, the KU student-run newspaper.

Lame jokes can be found on my Twitter and I respond to my contact page regularly. When not conforming to AP Style, I mutinously support the Oxford comma.
